fabric bows

One of my friends bought a couple of bows like this at a hair salon and we decided we wanted to try and make them ourselves.
You get cotton fabric any colors you want and some tulle. Cut them out in the shape you want...I have seen them in flower shapes, stars...basically whatever you want and are able to cut out...if you have a cricut then you can cut fabric with that as well. Cut out at least eight pieces of fabric so you can layer them back to back. Then to get a permanently stiff look or wrinkled look to the bow use a fabric stiffener, which can be found at most craft stores. Follow the directions on the stiffener and then once the fabric is dry use hot glue to layer the fabric.
For your final touch add a cute rhinestone or brad to the center for an embellishment!

Embroidery Blocks!

So my friend saw these blocks at a boutique and we decided to make our own for a fraction of the cost that it was to buy them. I think they are really fun and something different! I have seen a lot of cute blocks with vinyl lettering but this really adds a different dimension to the blocks!
The letters are embroidered on cross-stitching fabric and then mounted on another piece of coordinating fabric and held on with upholstery tacks!
If anyone is interested in doing a project like this you can custom order your embroidered letters through http://www.jellybeanembroidery.blogspot.com/
I would be happy to help with the wood if anyone is interested.
The cost for the 7 letters I had done was around 22 dollars. The price will vary due to the size and number of fonts embroidered. My largest letters were about 7inches tall.

Happy Valentines Day!

I decided yesterday I needed something for a ledge in my house, it was feeling a little bare and I was having some friends over for dinner and wanted my home to feel a little festive for the holiday. So I came up with this fun "Love" saying made of wood and I painted and decorated the letters with cute holiday paper and glitter! It was quick and easy to decorate!
I decided to use a spray glue instead of decoupage and that sped up the crafting process!
If you are interested in any sayings for upcoming holidays email me and I will be happy to help!
